Partner with Tremé for Tremé for our 2024 Historical & Cultural Series:
Treme 4 Treme (T4T) in a collaborative partnership with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) will present The New Orleans Historical & Cultural Series celebrating the rich musical and cultural history of Tremé and beyond.
About The Series
Free people of color in New Orleans are credited with establishing the Philharmonic Society. This historical and cultural music series will be a two night musical celebration paying tribute to the great legacy of Free People of Color - Pre Civil War in Tremé who founded La Société Philharmonique and we will present “Music Of A Movement” an anthology tribute dedicated to symphonic masterpieces composed by, written by or made famous by Black People from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Tremé for Tremé and other New Orleans historical and cultural preservation organizations have come together to create this collective impact collaborative initiative designed to achieve transformational community-wide progress to achieve a common goal. Our collective includes The New Orleans Legacy Project, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tremé Petit Jazz Museum, The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC), Friends of the Freedom House, the New Orleans African American Museum (NOAAM) and our production partners Sunstar Gate Productions & Fish Pot Studios.
2024 PROGRAMMING
With this collaborative partnership, we will produce and document the inaugural historical and cultural black symphonic masterpieces series to be included in part 3 of The New Orleans Legacy Project 3-part docuseries. We will produce 2 nights paying tribute to the great legacy of Free People of Color - Pre Civil War in Tremé who founded La Société Philharmonique and we will present “Music Of A Movement” an anthology tribute dedicated to symphonic masterpieces composed by, written by or made famous by Black People from the 1950s through the 1970s.
The docuseries film is a combination of interviews, news clips and first hand account oral history commentary from legendary New Orleans culture keepers and elders of The New Orleans Resistance Movement. The film and the 2 night production will be produced by Sunstar Gate Productions. Tremé for Tremé is proud to collaborate with The New Orleans Legacy Project which includes the history about The New Orleans Resistance Movement and the FOUR iconic little 6-year-old soldier girls (The New Orleans Four) who became the legacy of the movement that rocked this nation and changed the world.
2024 ESSENCE FESTIVAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY
With this inaugural historical & cultural project we intend to share in the pride and joy of our community and the contributions of the elders and ancestors who have paved the way and made significant impact when it comes to our history, our culture and a movement that contributed greatly to the cultural richness of America and the world. Our goal is to create a display and stage to feature live interviews and present “Music Of A Movement” in the Convention Center during the 2024 ESSENCE FESTIVAL 30th Anniversary.
