NEW ORLEANS BLACK ECONOMIC PROSPERITY INITIATIVE

The growth of Black-owned businesses is essential to the economic empowerment of Black communities. By working directly with Corporate Brands we can create a stronger opportunity to provide resources for New Orleans Black entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, and create more opportunities for economic advancement and generational wealth. 

 

The Heart & Soul of New Orleans Experience  is a unique COMMUNITY POWERED platform and dedicated area created to provide an equitable opportunity for Black entrepreneurs to thrive and succeed. Our focus is to bypass the systemic and structural barriers that have historically inhibited Black-owned business growth in New Orleans by fostering our own direct partnerships with Corporate Brand initiatives designed to economically empower our New Orleans black owned business communities.

 

Through supporting this New Orleans Black Economic Prosperity Initiative, you can set yourself apart by ensuring that our community has the resources and capabilities needed to compete.

EMPOWER BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES & ENTREPRENEURS

When annual festivals and large sporting events take place in New Orleans, black business owners of New Orleans, especially businesses in the Historic Neighborhood of Treme (located in the heart & soul of New Orleans) lack the resources to activate opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. We deserve to create an equitable environment that supports Black entrepreneurs and allows them, and our community at large to compete and succeed in the marketplace. 

 

In addition, our New Orleans musicians, performers and culture keepers deserve better. Their main source of income comes from being paid to perform. Many times, they are exploited and treated like they truly have NO EQUAL VALUE from the sponsored festivals and large sporting events.  They are often hired last-minute, are paid pennies on the dollar and are given subpar treatment when it comes to facilitating accommodations, logistics and unreasonable delays in being paid after they perform. Some don't see their payments for months on end and some don't receive payment at all.

While annual festivals and large sporting events are sponsored by Corporate Brands that have powerful economic empowerment initiatives, the mission of those initiatives ARE NOT translating

into growth and economic empowerment for New Orleans Black-owned businesses. In fact, it's doing the opposite.
